Frequently Asked Questions
How much does it cost?
$0 … just ensure each team member has registered via email. They will also be registered for updates from Kate Boyd and the Happy & Holy podcast, but they can unsubscribe at any time post-trivia game with zero hard feelings.
How do we play?
Virtual quizzes are run live on Zoom. I’ll use Zoom's breakout rooms to create a private space for you and your team. Playing solo? Breakout rooms can get lonely by yourself, instead of a breakout room you'll get to party down in the main room.
If you’re looking for rules, here’s some of that …
Teams are limited to 6 people.
No cheating. No outside help of any kind.
No shouting out answers. (Might wanna stay on mute mostly so you don’t accidentally give away your answers.)
All answers must be in when called for or you don’t get credit.
We have 6 rounds, with 5 questions each. Each round you wager every question from 1-5 using each value only once. You can only gain points in these rounds, meaning if you wager 5 and miss the question it’s not deducted from your total. The whole game will wrap up with a final 4-part question in which you’ll be able to wager up to 20 points, but more on that later.
The top team(s) earns the coveted prizes.
How do I get the room link?
The link is embedded in the confirmation email you receive after you register.
How do we communicate during the quiz?
After each round is over, we'll send you into breakout rooms with your team to discuss the answers before submitting them. We'll even give you a copy of the questions to review while you're there. Since your team may consist of folks in different places, you’ll be able to use the breakout rooms OR to communicate via phone — though we encourage the first option.
How do I submit my answers?
When you enter the Zoom meeting we'll provide you the link for the night's digital answer sheet. Only one person will need to fill it out.
How do you prevent cheating?
Um … we’re trusting that if you know about Jesus, you’ll know that cheating is frowned upon. So it’s all honor system. Well, honor system and crushing guilt knowing that you cheated on a Jesus quiz.
Are there prizes?
Prizes will be announced on the call, but the members of the top 3 teams will get something.
What if there's a tie?
When a tie happens your team will nominate one person to compete head to head in a quick tiebreaker round, for all the marbles.
How long is the quiz?
About 90 minutes, with six rounds of 5 questions each, plus your halftime and final questions.
What are the team sizes?
Teams can be up to 6 players.
Can I change my team name?
Sorry, no. We'll ask for your team name at checkout and will use that name to create a team’s breakout room. In our virtual world, it’ll help us manage things ahead of time for you.
I didn't find my answer here.
We love hearing from our players so drop us a line at hello@kateboyd.co and we can talk about it!
